The WVVA was
established in September 1999 to create and maintain a sense of community in our
ex-mining village and the surrounding area, in the semi rural setting of North
Nottinghamshire. All residents of Warsop
Vale are welcome to attend the open part of each meeting to raise
community issues or help in organising a range of social events.
Recently
our focus has been on the provision of a local mini-market and resource centre to
serve our local residents although we are now looking to branch out and
establish regular activities for the whole community. In addition to our regular bingo nights we would
like to offer regular children’s discos and activities, an annual senior
citizens party, a Halloween party, Fireworks display together with a summer fair and Easter Egg hunt. The WVVA has also just entered into the
modern world by providing and maintaining this website, a Facebook and twitter
page in order to keep a wider proportion of our residents informed and
involved.
Currently
these are supported via ever-dwindling grants and from our newly established
WVVA 50-50 club. Everyone can join in
that support by becoming a member of the 50-50 club for £1 per entry per month.
A draw takes place at our monthly meeting with a prize of half of that month's
income to the winner.
Meetings
are held on the second Thursday of most months at 6.30pm in the Malcolm
Sargison Resource Centre, with the AGM in April, all are welcome to attend the public section of the meeting. Facebook page - Warsop Vale Village Association. Twitter feed - @WarsopVale
